Some Sundays just disappear.
You wake up thinking you have plenty of time, but in a blink of an eye it’s already 7 p.m. Monday starts creeping into your head and, before you know it, you’re thinking about work, university, emails, laundry… basically everything except enjoying the last few hours of the weekend.
I’ve actually noticed that a lot of us don’t actually dislike Mondays, but we dislike that feeling of starting the week already behind.
That’s why I love the idea of a Sunday reset. Nothing extreme. No five-hour routine. No pressure to have your whole life together by 9 p.m. Just an hour, or even half an hour, to make next week feel a little easier.

If you’re anything like me, you’ll probably realize that the little things make the biggest difference.

Start with your space

Don't worry, I’m not talking about deep cleaning the entire house.
Honestly, if my kitchen is a mess and there are clothes on the chair, I’m probably not going to spend three hours cleaning on a Sunday evening. I just do enough to make the place feel calm and breathable again. I make the bed, put things back where they belong, wipe the kitchen counter, open the windows for a few minutes.
It’s funny how a room can stay exactly the same size but feel lighter after fifteen minutes of tidying up.

Have a quick look at your week

This is probably the step that saves me the most stress and, during the week, I always thank "past me" for doing this on Sunday.
I open my calendar and check what’s coming up. Any appointments? Any birthdays I’ve forgotten? Anything I promised someone I’d do? That’s it.I’m not trying to schedule every hour of my life, I just don’t want Monday morning to surprise me.

Pick three things that actually matter

I used to write massive to-do lists. Half the time I’d look at them and immediately feel overwhelmed, so now I keep it simple. If, by Friday, I can say “I’m glad I got those three things done,” I’m happy, everything else is a plus.

Do your future self a favour

This one always feels so small, but it helps so much.
Choose tomorrow’s outfit.
Charge your laptop.
Fill your water bottle.
Pack your bag.
Little things like that mean Monday morning starts with one less decision to make.
It doesn’t sound exciting, but believe me, you’ll thank yourself.

Give your phone a reset too

Our homes aren’t the only places that get cluttered, it’s our phones.
Random screenshots. Twenty-seven tabs open. Apps we haven’t used in months.
I spend a few minutes cleaning that up too, I like starting the week without digital chaos.

Give yourself something to look forward to

One thing I’ve realised is that the week feels very different when there’s something nice waiting for you. It doesn’t have to be a holiday or a big event.
Maybe it’s trying a new coffee place, reading a few chapters of a book, going for a walk after work, meeting a friend.
Life feels lighter when it isn’t only made of responsibilities.

End the day slowly

This is probably the hardest part.
It’s so easy to spend Sunday night thinking about everything that could go wrong during the week, I still catch myself doing it sometimes.
When that happens, I try to remind myself that worrying isn’t preparation.
Closing my laptop a little earlier, making a cup of tea, reading a few pages of a book… those things help much more.

A simple Sunday Reset Checklist

I'll remind you: there isn’t a right way to do this.
Some Sundays you’ll tick every box and some Sundays you’ll only manage one or two.
Both are just fine.
If it helps, here’s a simple checklist you can come back to whenever you need it.
✓ Tidy up your space
✓ Check your calendar
✓ Choose your top three priorities
✓ Prepare a few things for Monday
✓ Clear a little digital clutter
✓ Plan one thing you’re looking forward to this week
✓ Give yourself an early night, if you can

Final thoughts / Reminder

I know we live in a society where, through the social media lens, it seems like everyone is successful and has their life together, but let me remind you:
Life isn’t always organised.
Some weeks you’ll feel on top of everything (especially if you're a woman reading, you know how our cycle hormones mess with us sometimes lol!)
Other weeks, you’ll feel like you’re just trying to keep up.
That’s normal.
I think we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to have everything figured out all the time.
To always be productive, always motivated, always one step ahead.
But real life doesn’t work like that.
Some weeks your Sunday reset will last an hour. Some weeks it might only be ten minutes while your dinner is in the oven.
I don’t think changing your life happens because of one perfect routine.
I think it happens because of the small things you come back to, over and over again, even when life feels a little messy.
So if this Sunday all you manage to do is make your bed, look at your calendar and take a deep breath before Monday…I’d call that a good start.
There’s another Sunday next week.
